Coast Captial Savings Credit Union


Coast Capital Savings is committed to working with the community to find solutions to address housing affordability issues in the Capital Region. A founding partner of the Housing Affordability Partnership and supporter of the BC Non-Profit Housing Association, the credit union has many porgrams in place to support this cause, including various community lending programs and guaranteeing their best rate to all who apply for residential mortgages.

Vancity Credit Union


The Springboard home ownership program by Vancity Savings Credit Union  is geared towards people living in non-profit housing that can lend 100 per cent of the money required to purchase a home.  The down payment is an interest-free loan for ten years that is 20 per cent of the cost of the home, combined with a ten-year fixed, interest only mortgage that is 80 per cent of the cost of the home.  The total of both loan and mortgage cannot exceed $200,000.00.   

Vancity has also been pleased to provide support to the Housing Affordability Partnership and other organizations' in Victoria's Capital Regional District that are addressing housing affordability.

Victoria Real Estate Board


Through an internal 'Quality of Life' program, REALTORS® are participating throughout the region on various committees to improve affordability and a range of housing opportunities in the community. Their support of temporary housing for crystal meth addicts in the City of Victoria also contributed to housing many who are also simultaneously on the street without housing.

Canadian Home Builders' Association


The Flex-Plex Housing Affordability Project is a partnership between the Canadian Home Builders' Association-Victoria and Habitat for Humanity to create innovative housing that is flexible, energy-efficient, affordable, and accessible. The Flex-Plex Housing Affordability Project was designed by architect Art Finlayson and designer Dan Boot. Other important participants are BC Housing, the District of Saanich, and the Affordability and Choice Today (ACT) Program.

The Flex-Plex Housing Affordability Project


The Flex-Plex Housing Affordability Project represents new zoning located on the corner of Bethune Ave and Saanich Rd, and consists of five titled units, including three small units contained within the larger units. The small units can be used as unfinished basements, extra living space, caregiver suites, or mortgage helpers. The project will provide affordable housing for working families that qualify under Habitat for Humanity's guidelines.
